Powerball Winner – Texas Lottery Confirms Saturday’s Big Win
Saturday was a day of triumph across Texas. In Dallas, many fans of the Texas Longhorns proudly paraded around the West End after their team throttled Red River Rival Oklahoma. And in Aggie Land Texas A&M had the night off but they have Mississippi State next week, so it's like they have two bye weeks back to back.
And while the Texas college football Saturday was winding down the Texas Lottery popped in with some winning news of their own. There was a big win in Texas in the multi-state Powerball Lottery game.
The jackpot on Saturday night had been growing since early August. And when the ping pong balls dropped from both Powerball hoppers just before 10 last night the estimated top prize in the game was $371 million.
To win the jackpot in Powerball a ticket purchaser must successfully match five "white ball" numbers and one "red ball" Powerball number. The white balls range from 1 to 69. The red Powerballs range from 1 to 26. It's no easy feat, perhaps that's why no one has managed to do it since August 4th of this year.
Here is how the Powerball drawing for Saturday, October 12, 2024, played out.
I am sure you're thinking the same thing I am thinking after watching that drawing. Did host Laura Johnson change her hair color? The ladies in the office say no. They think she may have just refreshed her highlights. Regardless, she looked like she was ready to turn those Powerball numbers into cold hard cash.
Our sources at Powerball confirmed late Saturday that the game produced a lot of winning tickets. However, none of those tickets matched the numbers needed for the $371 million to go home with them.
There were some Match 5 Million winners. A ticket in Tennessee earned a million-dollar prize. Meanwhile, in Connecticut, a Powerball player there matched all five numbers and had the Power Play option invoked. That ticket is worth $2 million this morning.
Those tickets were the top two winners in Saturday's Powerball drawing but a Texas-sold ticket earned the third-highest prize of the night. We double-checked and confirmed the news with our sources at the Texas Lottery in Austin and we can say with all certainty that a $150,000 winner was sold in Texas. There was also a $50,000 winner sold too.
If you didn't watch the drawing I am sure you'll want to know what the numbers drawn were. Here is what we saw.

Hopefully, those numbers are showing up somewhere on your Powerball ticket. Please remember to verify those numbers at either the Official Powerball Website or the Official Texas Lottery Website. Those sites are the official sites of record. They can also advise on prize redemption and the value of the prize you hope to claim.
The Texas Lottery does not reveal point-of-purchase information on prizes of less than $1 million so we can't offer that level of detail to you in this narrative. We do know that one ticket sold in Texas earned a prize of $150,000 and another earned a prize of $50,000.
There was no jackpot winner in the Lotto Texas with Extra! game. That game from the Texas Lottery also draws on Saturday night. The Texas Lottery did reveal that three tickets sold for that game earned a prize of $12,037. Which is not a bad return on a two-dollar investment.
The Powerball jackpot will grow to an estimated $388 million for Monday's drawing. The $388 million estimation is for the annuitized jackpot. The lump sum or cash prize is estimated to be $186.7 million should you win and choose that option.
