Far East El Paso Dog Narrowly Escapes Coyote Attack, Here's How to Keep Your Pets Safe

El Paso, Texas is no stranger to wildlife animals and one resident experienced that firsthand.

El Paso’s FitFam shared Ring doorbell footage that was captured in Far East El Paso which showed a coyote leaping into a backyard, chasing a small dog. Luckily, the dog escaped through the safety of a doggy door, and the coyote quickly left the yard.

In the post, a warning sign written by a precious young kid was also shared which warned people that coyotes were in the area and reminded pet owners to keep their pets safe and most importantly not to leave them alone after 6 pm or whenever it gets dark.

This isn’t the first time that I have seen videos like this shared in our area

I remember reports of wildlife animals in West El Paso too and there’s a reason why certain parts of town are prone to these wildlife animals more than other areas.

With wildlife sightings on the rise, experts at El Paso Animal Services remind residents that these encounters aren’t unusual in the Chihuahuan Desert. Public Affairs Coordinator Julieanne Newbold explained,

“With construction and expansion in El Paso, we’re moving into their habitat, and they’re coming into ours searching for food, water, and shelter.”

What not to do? Don’t approach or try to feed wildlife

It’s dangerous for both you and the animals. If you spot aggressive or sick wildlife, call 311 to report it. Remember, a little caution goes a long way in ensuring your pets stay safe and sound!
