Every now and then, Bristol and I get to call someone that we actually know and give them the good news that they've been selected as this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award.

This was one of those weeks! And, to tell the truth, we honestly couldn't believe it had taken this long.

See, Jamie Douglas is just one of those guys that makes the world better just because he's in it. He never says "no" and when times are tough, Jamie's the guy you can count on to get you through it.

Just look at the nomination letter we got about him from his wife, Tiffany, and you'll understand just how amazing he truly is.

There’s no way to be brief with ALL that this man has done and continues to do for our family. He’s been a coach, taxi, cheerleader, mentor, go-getter of all things, and MOST IMPORTANTLY a prayer warrior for our family. He’s coached our middle son from t-ball to high school baseball, and never missed a game, even if he was on shift at the MANY fire depts he works at. He watched our other 2 kids run cross country and never missed a meet. Two of the most admirable things he ever did was during the flood of 2016 and the winter storm of 2020. In 2016, we were displaced in Benton for 2 weeks, and well, our daughter had a first date to get ready for and her belongings were at our house that was surrounded by flood waters in South Bossier. He didn’t skip a beat. He suited up, waders and all, and trekked the waters to retrieve her makeup and hair products, because daddy’s princess needed her stuff! Then during the Winter storm last year, he stayed on for 7 days straight at the fire station to drive the ambulance or fire trucks because he’s very familiar with driving in that type of weather. He lived in Kansas and was well seasoned, when most of us down here aren’t. I’m not sure there’s anything he hasn’t dabbled in. When he’s not doing for our kids (who are all grown up now), he’s providing for me, usually a new car every 4-5 years, because “mama has to have a safe vehicle at all times,” even though he kept his car for 10+ years and refused to buy himself one until just recently, which he so deserved! He plans spontaneous trips that usually start with “hey babe, pack your things we’re going on a trip….AND DONT WORRY, the kids are gonna take care of the dogs! Come straight home after work!” He does all of this while working for several different fire depts, not to mention he’s also in paramedic school too! He never shows his worry, instead he prays over everything and puts God first in everything he does. He’s an amazing human and we are so blessed to call him ours!

Jamie Douglas, thank you for being so amazing! You are a big reason why this is the greatest place in America to live! And because you've been 'Caught in the Act' the gang at Silver Star Smokehouse have a $100 Gift Certificate for you and the family to come have dinner!

Take a listen to the phone call we made to Jamie to let him know that he was this week's Caught In The Act Award recipient.
