Jimmie Davis Bridge Down to One Lane For Inspections Next Week
Tis the season for bridge inspections here in our neck of the woods, and with these inspections come lane closures and in some cases, lengthy traffic delays. We've got two such bridge inspections slated here in the next week, so now would be the time to figure your best alternate route around these areas to try and lessen the congestion.
The first of those bridge inspections will take place this Wednesday, July 8, from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm when the Texas Street Bridge is inspected causing the closure of one lane of each direction to be closed.
Then, on Monday and Tuesday, July 13 and 14, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has advised us the LA 511 (Jimmie Davis Hwy) bridge over the Red River, connecting Bossier and Caddo Parishes, will be reduced to one lane to allow for routine bridge inspection.
This lane closure is also scheduled to take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. both days. Thank you LADOTD for not trying to do this during peak high traffic hours!
This bridge is located approximately 0.7 mile west of US 71.
Flagging operations will be in place in order to allow traffic to cross the bridge.
Alternate Route: This lane closure will allow vehicles 10 feet wide or smaller to pass through the bridge inspection zone. Larger vehicles must detour using LA 1, LA 3032, and US 71.
Restrictions/Permits: N/A
This work will be performed WEATHER PERMITTING.
