Bossier La. House Candidate Stands By Anti-Islam Sentiments
A Republican running for a seat in Louisiana's House of Representatives says he stands by his Facebook post calling for a boycott of businesses owned by followers of Islam.
Michael "Duke" Lowrie--who is running for House of Representatives District 8 seat--challenged "Islamists" to denounce their religion and "false god," in a 2015 post on his Facebook profile.
Last week Lowrie stood by his statements and said "we are a Christian nation," and added that politicians are afraid to speak the truth because of politically correct culture.
A special election for the Distrioct 8 seat is set to fill the vacancy created when U.S. Rep.-Elect Mike Johnson won Louisiana's 4th Congressional District race. The district is comprised of a portion of Bossier Parish.
