Lafayette PD Makes Massive, Historic Drug Bust
Lafayette Police have made one arrest, so far, in the largest cocaine bust in the department's history.
Police spokesman Cpl. Karl Ratcliff said 18-year-old Kierra Washington, of Houston, is behind bars after agents seized more than $1.1 million dollars worth of cocaine and $55,600 worth of oxycodone pills.
The loot included 11.1 kilograms of cocaine and 1,853 illegal prescription pills.
Ratcliff said this bust marks the largest known cocaine seizure in the history of the Lafayette Police Department.
Washington has been charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics.
The Lafayette Police Department's Crime Suppression Unit and a K-9 unit conducted the independent drug interdiction operation.
Though Washington has been the only suspect arrested at this point, the investigation is ongoing.
