The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development continues their bridge inspections again next week, and this time it will cost us some delays on the Red River Bridge of I-20 in Shreveport and Bossier City.

According to the LADOTD website, on Monday, July 12, the I-20 eastbound bridge over the Red River will be restricted to two lanes of traffic.

They will close one lane of traffic from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm to allow for routine bridge inspection.

Additionally, the eastbound on-ramp from LA 1 north and south (Market Street and Spring Street) and the I-20 eastbound off-ramp to Traffic Street will be closed as part of the inspection.

Alternate route: LA 1 (Spring and Market Streets) traffic entering I-20 will need to detour to LA 3032 (Shreveport-Barksdale Blvd) to US 71 (Barksdale Blvd).

Traffic exiting onto Traffic Street will need to detour to LA 3 (Benton Road) to LA 72 (Old Minden Road).

Obviously this is weather permitting and if Mother Nature is cooperative, the DOTD will repeat the process on Tuesday, July 13 on the westbound bridge of I-20 over Red River.

On that day, from 9:00 am until 3:00 PM, the westbound bridge will be restricted to two lanes of traffic as one lane is closed for routine bridge inspection.

Additionally, the I-20 westbound on-ramp from Traffic Street will be closed as part of the inspection.

Alternate route: Traffic coming onto I-20 from Traffic Street will need to detour via US 80 (Texas Street) to LA 1 (Market Street) to I-20.

The lane closure on I-20 over the Red River will allow vehicles 14 feet wide or smaller to pass through the bridge inspection zone. Larger vehicles must detour using I-220 to LA 1 to LA 3094 to I-20.
