Longview Museum is Now Showcasing the Spirit of Mardi Gras

One of the Best Things About My Moving to Louisiana is Mardi Gras.

Before I made the move to Shreveport, I figured Mardi Gras was just something that was celebrated in New Orleans. I remember seeing all of the pictures and videos of Mardi Gras, not realizing that so many of those fun parades take place here in Shreveport.

It's Not Just the Parades That We Love, It's All the Food That Comes With Mardi Gras Celebrations.

Mardi Gras season means one thing for me, King Cake. We have so many options for King Cake in Shreveport-Bossier, in fact, we had a few bakeries in town do "King Cake in July". What can we say, we love Mardi Gras. Can we get this museum to serve up some King Cake for those who go check out the exhibit?

Mardi Gras Isn't a Common Experience For Everyone So a Local Museum Wants to Show Off the Spirit of Mardi Gras.

The Gregg County Historical Museum has a new museum exhibit that is putting one of our favorite seasons on Display.

Here is what the Facebook post from the Gregg County Historical Museum said on their Facebook page: "Celebrate Mardi Gras in July and August with the Gregg County Historical Museum! Enjoy "The Magic of Mardi Gras" exhibit July 12-September 17th. View historical artifacts and float pieces on loan from the Galveston County Museum and Mardi Gras world in New Orleans. Hours are Tuesday-Friday 10-4, Saturday 10-2. Adults $5, Senior Citizens $2, and Students $1."
