On Wednesday January 12th, the St. James Parish Sheriff's Office posted on social media that a Louisiana teacher had been arrested on serious sex related charges. Authorities say 50-year-old Lisa Samuels has been arrested and charged with Indecent Behavior With Juveniles and Molestation of a Juvenile. Samuels is a teacher with the St. James Parish School System, the victim is reportedly a student of the school system.

According to Samuels' Linkedin page, she has been an Art Teacher with the district for over 13 years.

Authorities say their investigation has been going on since last October when a tip was received by the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services. At the conclusion of their work, they believe inappropriate conduct did take place. After presenting their case to a judge, an arrest warrant was obtained, and Samuels was arrested in Ascension Parish.

According to The Advocate, the alleged molestation did not take place on school grounds.

St. James Parish Sheriff Willy Martin Jr. told The Advocate that the alleged molestation took place in the past, but the student had become more uncomfortable being around the teacher, which is when the report happened.

The St. James Parish Schools System released a statement Wednesday, indicating that Samuels' had been placed on "administrative leave during the pendency of this legal matter.".
