As soon as I saw the campaign ad, and the initial response, only one iconic movie line came to mind. "It's a bold strategy Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for him."

One of my favorite lines of all time, perfectly delivered by Jason Bateman in Dodgeball, perfectly describes my feelings following Gary Chambers' most-recent campaign ad. Personally, I don't have a problem with it, and if anything, a lot of Louisianians now know Gary Chambers' name who may not have heard of him before.

Chambers is one of two announced challengers to Republican John Kennedy, the other being democratic candidate Luke Mixon.

U.S. Senate Democratic candidate Gary Chambers released a new ad that shows him lighting up and ripping a blunt. In the clip, Chambers is seen sitting in a chair while smoking the marijuana, with his voice narrating the ad. His narration covered the arrest statistics for black Americans in relations to marijuana crimes.

On Twitter, Chambers says, "I hope this ad works to not only destigmatize the use of marijuana, but also forces a new conversation that creates the pathway to legalize this beneficial drug, and forgive those who were arrested due to outdated ideology."

After covering the ad, Chambers submitted a statement to CNN saying, "Some parts of the country are fighting opioid addictions and creating millionaires and better schools from the marijuana industry. Others are creating felonies and destroyed families. I can't stand for that."

The response to the ad, at least on his video shared to Twitter, has been overwhelmingly positive. The ad has been watched nearly 6 million times.
