Louisiana Teen Might Be First Person on Mars
A 17-year-old girl from Baton Rouge, LA might just be the first person to ever step foot on Mars!
In a lot of ways, Alyssa Carson, is just like you and me. According to MyArkLaMiss.com, she likes music, festivals, crawfish and Netflix, but she also has a deep love of space that began when she was 3-years-old watching an episode of The Backyardigans called 'Mission to Mars.'
Since then, her father, Bert Carson, says she's been to space camp 18 times and is gearing up for her 19th visit before her senior year of high school begins at Baton Rouge International School.
Over the years, Alyssa has been serious when it comes to making her dreams of space travel a reality. She already has both her pilot's and her scuba license, speaks four languages and has fostered relationships and is being personally mentored by professionals at NASA.
Alyssa says she plans to be both a biologist and a geologist on the first human mission to Mars and plans to attend the Florida Institute of Technology for her undergraduate studies and the International Space University for her master's degree.
Talk about having it all together! You can follow Alyssa's journey to be on the first ever human mission to Mars in 2033 on Instagram at NASA Blueberry.
