Over the years, Christmas decorations have gotten a lot less "traditional."  Sure, you still see lots of the classic lights on the house, with a generous sprinkling of cut-outs or light up inflatables of the usual suspects - Santa, snowfolk, reindeer, angels, and nativities.  Mixed in with the those traditional decorations are some truly original ideas to show off holiday spirit.  Unfortunately, these yule-tide revolutionaries are not always celebrated as pioneers.

Case-in-point: Author Diana Rowland of Mandeville, Louisiana writes fictional books that sometimes include dragons.  She thought it would be fun to incorporate her love for the mythical, flying, fire-breathing reptiles into her front yard Christmas decorations.  Her neighbors were not so jolly about the idea.  The mind behind the White Trash Zombie books decorated her front yard with 5 large, inflatable, illuminated dragons.  That's when she received a letter from an unidentified neighbor.

It read:

Dear neighbor,

Your dragon display is only marginally acceptable at Halloween. It is totally inappropriate at Christmas. It makes your neighbors wonder if you are in a demonic cult. Please consider removing the dragons. May God bless you and help you to know the true meaning of Christmas.

WGNO reports that even though Rowland has decided not to take down her display, but has made a compromise.  She has reportedly placed halos above the dragons and now claims that they are "Angels."
