Times they are a changing in Baton Rouge.

This week, LSU head coach Brian Kelly announced his first big hire, and he pulled a coach from the NFL to bring down to Louisiana. Ever since LSU landed one of the most-respected coaches in the NCAA, all eyes quickly shifted to who he will surround himself with. After weeks of waiting, we now have our first big hire, and although he isn't a household name, he has quite the respectable track record.

Matt House is your next LSU defensive coordinator. He is currently the linebackers coach for the Kansas City Chiefs. He will remain with the Chiefs until their season concludes, which could take some time as they look to make a deep run in the playoffs.

Prior to joining the Chiefs, House built quite the name for himself on the collegiate level. He was with Kentucky for three seasons, where he was the teams defensive coordinator for two of those, including the 2018 team that ranked 6th in points allowed. He also had stops at FIU and Pittsburgh before Kentucky.

Sure, his name alone won't make many Tiger fans jump for joy, but I believe this is just the hire LSU needed to make. I hate when schools hire coordinators based off their name alone, and I'm glad LSU went this route to help bring the team back to their dominating-defensive ways.
