LSU Football is not having a good night. In fact, December 7th, 2021 might be one of those days that LSU fans bring up down the road.

While the program is still feeling good about stealing new Head Coach Brian Kelly away from Notre Dame, there are a few voices bringing up former Head Coach Ed Orgeron's name tonight online. Many of the players who were recruited by Orgeron, or played under Orgeron, have announced they are leaving the program. Which is going to put LSU in a weird spot for their bowl game.

Let's start with the most important part, the quarterbacks. Where starting QB Max Johnson announced tonight that he's entering the transfer portal and will be leaving the school. This comes after former starter Myles Brennan already declared that he is leaving the school via the transfer portal as well.

That leaves only one quarterback on the roster who took a snap this year, and that's Garrett Nussmeier. However, Nussmeier and his father (Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Coach) Doug Nussmeier have made it clear that Garrett won't play again this season to preserve his redshirt status.

So heading into the Texas Bowl on January 4th, the LSU Tigers appear to be turning to walk on Quarterback Matt O'Dowd or Carencro native Tavion Faulk...the only two quarterbacks listed on the team's official roster. After the news broke about Johnson's transfer tonight, Faulk sent out this Tweet...

Also announcing his transfer tonight was Wide Receiver Deion Smith, who started multiple games for the Tigers this season. Smith only had two touchdowns during his true freshman season, but he was one of the Tigers' top recruits over the last couple of years. He was the #1 recruit in the state of Mississippi, and a Top 10 Wide Receiver recruit in the nation.

In addition to the transfer announcements tonight, the team took a hit in their recruiting too.

Max Johnson's brother, 4-star recruit Jake Johnson announced that he will be de-committing from LSU. Both Johnson's are the sons of Super Bowl Champion quarterback Brad Johnson. Jake is a 6'5 TE from Georgia, who is ranked as one of the Top 3 Tight End recruits in the nation.

LSU is also suffering a de-commitment from a Shreveport star as well. One of the best names in football recruiting history announced his de-commitment tonight on social media.

Green Oaks Wide Receiver DeColdest Crawford took to Twitter to announce his de-commitment from the LSU program, reopening the recruiting for the 3-4 star recruit. Crawford reportedly has offers already from Arkansas, Arizona State, and Kansas among others.

LSU has big questions for their immediate future with the Texas Bowl, but might have even bigger questions when it comes to recruiting for the next couple of years.
