I am getting very excited about the start of the college football season. There are lots of unknowns about the LSU football team. But we did get a little peak inside what's happening as the Tigers held its first fall scrimmage under first-year head coach Brian Kelly.

Who Is the Likely Quarterback?

Arizona State Transfer Jayden Daniels took the vast majority of the snaps at QB with senior Myles Brennan lining up with the 2nd string players. We have a pretty good 3rd stringer in redshirt freshman Garrett Nussmeier. But he did not play in the scrimmage because of an ankle injury.

Coach Kelly says someone came down on his foot and he has a minor ankle situation and he is expected to recover quickly.

What Are Concerns For the LSU Tigers?

Kelly and his assistant coaches have been working to rebuild the performance of the defensive backs after there was very little depth within that position group throughout spring practice. Kelly brought in a number of transfers. Kelly says that the secondary has really impressed the coaching staff during fall practice.

The concerns we had there are starting to be alleviated by the production in the play not by wishing and hoping. We are actually seeing consistency and production out of that group.
