It's official! As of this Friday, January 28th, 2022, you'll be able to bet on your favorite sports from the comfort of your own couch!

Yes, mobile sports betting will be available in Louisiana before LSU legend Joe Burrow and the Bengals take on the Kansas City Chiefs and ETX's own Patrick Mahomes this Sunday! (Game time 2 pm on CBS)

It seems like we've been waiting on this news forever. On-site sports betting at casinos began in Louisiana last year, but we've been hearing the words 'coming soon' with regard to sports betting apps for at least a year. Of course, changes in the guard on the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, a pandemic, and multiple natural disasters slowed things down. According to a press release we received this morning, Louisiana Gaming Control Board Chairman Ronnie Jones made the following announcement:

Mobile sports wagering is set to go live in Louisiana Friday, January 28, 2022, at 8:00 a.m.

Chairman Ronnie Johns announces that currently eligible sports wagering operators will be approved to accept mobile bets as early as 8:00 a.m. Friday morning.

The remaining mobile sports wagering operators are in the process of meeting statutory and regulatory requirements and will be approved once those requirements are met.

The announcement was brief and to the point. No word yet as to which sports betting apps have been approved for use in Louisiana, but it's safe to say you'll be hearing all about the wonders of betting with them on your airwaves soon!
