Mudbug Madness Kicks Off Friday. Here’s What You Need to Know
Teri Matthews from Mudbug Madness previews this year's event, kicking off Friday at downtown Shreveport's Festival Plaza.
The annual fete, cancelled last year because of the pandemic, is back Memorial Day weekend, May 28 to 30.
This year's musical guests include Louisiana legends like Wayne Toups, Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas, Chubby Carrier and Geno Delafose, Shreveport based, but nationally known The Seratones and Willie Jones and the well known rock band, Sister Hazel.
"We're so excited about the possibilities for this year," says Matthews, "So we hope everybody comes out to be a part of it."
And she emphasizes that, with the removal of most (if not all) COVID restrictions, this year's festival should resemble the best of previous years.
"Honestly, there really are no restrictions," she says, "According to the guidelines that the state puts out. Outdoor festivals and events are back to full capacity.
"Now, we are conscious that we have been in a pandemic, so we have measures in place reminding people to social distance and wash their hands frequently. There are no mask requirements, but if you want to wear a mask, please do. And we'll have hand sanitizing station all over.
"We're doing our part and we hope everyone comes out to have a good time because everyone deserves it!"
