Mudbugs Players Suspended After Saturday Night Brawl
Two Shreveport Mudbugs Players were suspended following a huge, 6 on 6 brawl during last Saturday night's game versus the Kenai River Brown Bears. Mudbugs head coach Karlis Zirnis told the Shreveport Times that the NAHL has suspended goaltender Gustavs Grigals and defenseman Brendon Gysbers.
According to Zirnis, Grigals was suspended for 3 games and Gysbers has been suspended for one. Originally, forward Cameron Cook was also suspended but his suspension was rescinded upon appeal.
Zirnis is hoping to get Grigals' suspension reduced, but the league has not ruled on that yet.
This weekend, the Bugs take on the league leading Fairbanks Ice Dogs at the Hirsch. Tickets for both the Friday night and Saturday games are still available. You can pick those up at any Brookshires location or you can buy them online here.
The Fairbanks team has been undefeated for 23 games and haven't lost in regulation since November.
