Today was Record Store Day, a HUGE day in today's music world. Vinyl sales are out-pacing CDs again, and are pound-for-pound out selling digital downloads.

So when Record Store Day rolls around, people get excited.

I have participated in Record Store Day, in some form or another, for the last 5 years. I think I have purchased a RSD release every year for the last 5 years. Some years I leave with WAY too much, other years I don't leave with much at all.

This year would be one of those years where I didn't leave with much. But it's my own fault, so no pity-party here. There are some folks out there, bitching and moaning about RSD, and what it represents, or what they think it SHOULD represent, and I'm NOT about that life. If you love it, great. Hate it, get out, we'll do fine without you.

Not this year, I wasn't able to make it out as early as I have in the past. There were a few years where I was one of the first dozen in line hours before the shops opened. One year specifically, it was for a serial numbered, limited Black Keys release, which I got, and it's awesome. Other years I went early and still missed what I wanted. But this year, we were HOURS late.

But I was still able to get something out of it. When we rolled into Shreveport's Day Old Blues, I found the final remaining copy of Five Finger Death Punch's "Got Your Six" in limited picture disc format. As you can see in the picture above, she's a beauty. My wife was also able to score one of her targets, an anniversary release from singer Regina Spektor. We both left happy...but probably not as happy as we could have if we were there earlier. But, our bank account would have been crying at that point too.
