New Orleans is Louisiana's undisputed food capital. They have countless festivals for just about every South Louisiana culinary staple, but they are about to add one more feather in the NOLA food festival cap.

FRIED CHICKEN!!

The Crescent City is no stranger to the Southern Fried Chicken world. As a matter of fact, one restaurant, Willie Mae's Scotch House, has been awarded many "Best Of" awards for their fried yard bird. But an entire festival? What would that entail?

A LOT of fried chicken, of course.

According to an article on NOLA.com, the festival will have tons of the tasty fried treat, plus music, contests and more!

The free, outdoor festival will feature food from more than 20 restaurants, music, family-friendly activities as well as a fried chicken wing eating contest and, of course, a best fried chicken contest that will be "judged by local and national food writers, bloggers and critics," according to a release from the Spears Group.

The Spears Group, who is organizing the festival, is optimistic that the event will put a new spin on the classic Southern dish.

The first-ever New Orleans Fried Chicken Festival is set for Sept. 25 in Lafayette Square located in the Central Business District of New Orleans.
