Nintendo Announces Release of SNES Classic Edition
Following last year’s release of the NES Classic Edition, Nintendo is back at it again with the vintage consoles. Today, the upcoming re-release of the SNES Classic Edition was announced. Releasing later this year, the console will return as a mini system for Nintendo with pre-installed games already included in the gaming system.
Set to retail for a suggested price of $79.99, the 2017 version of the SNES will feature 21 pre-installed games, which include games like Star Fox, Super Mario Kart, Mega Man X, Donkey Kong Country, F-ZERO and more. Equipped with two wired SNES classic controllers, the console also comes with one HDMI cable and USB charging cable.
“While many people from around the world consider the Super NES to be one of the greatest video game systems ever made, many of our younger fans never had a chance to play it,” said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of sales and marketing. “With the Super NES Classic Edition, new fans will be introduced to some of the best Nintendo games of all time, while longtime fans can relive some of their favorite retro classics with family and friends.”
The Nintendo SNES Classic Edition is scheduled to launch in the U.S. on Sat., Sept. 29, in limited quantities. As the release date gets closer, look for Nintendo to announce the locations that will carry this highly anticipated gaming system.
