One Local Casino Shows Big Win for July

Most casinos across the state show declining revenues for July compared to the same month a year ago.

The worst news from the gambling front comes from Baton Rouge where the three riverboat casinos saw a decline of close to 27 percent in July.

The total take in the state from the 15 riverboat casinos, four race tracks and land-based Harrah's casino took in $222.4 million in winnings during July, according to figures released by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board. That was down from the $235.4 million in July 2017.

In other markets, the riverboat casinos in New Orleans saw a 2.2 percent decline in revenues from a year ago. Lake Charles revenues were down by 2.6 percent.
L'Auberge of Lake Charles generates the most revenue of all of the boats in the state, bringing in more than $30 million in July.
