I know its hard for a lot of people to believe, but our local Mardi Gras krewes are already prepping for the 2019 parade season and crowning their new royalty for the upcoming year. This weekend, this Krewe of Justinian will hold their coronation festivities Friday at Harrah's Louisiana Downs. The Krewe of Gemini will unveil their royals for their 30th year parading at Horseshoe Casino Riverdome Saturday, while Minden's Krewe des Ambassadeurs will reveal theirs Saturday at Sam's Town. On Sunday, the animal krewe, the Krewe of Barkus and Meoux, will unmask their new royal ambassadors for their 20th year in the Ark-La-Tex at the El Dorado Casino at a brunch style affair.
SPAR presents the family friendly movie DEEP for this week's Movies and Moonbeams, Friday night at 8pm a Bill Cockrell Metro Park on Pines Road in Shreveport. Bring your blankets, your lawn chairs and your picnic baskets, just no alcohol please, for this free event. Pets are welcome on a leash.
I don't know how I let this one get by me, especially since I'm a Haughton girl, but this Saturday is week three of the Haughton Hometown Market, which is held Saturdays from 10am-6pm at 149 S. Elm Street in Haughton, LA. This is a newer market in the area that stands 'for small town living and values' and is run by a 'group of vendors who produce and present home crafts and foods.'
