One year later and Pepito's & Company is thriving, and they earned it.

I remember about two years ago, Pepito Munoz told me he's planning on opening his own restaurant. I remember being so excited for him for two reasons... The first is that he's a really awesome guy and a great friend. The second is because I knew anything he attached himself to would be extremely successful, and he deserves it. He was so excited to open Pepito's & Company, and he and his staff put countless hours into making sure when it was time to open, Pepito's & Company would hit the ground running.

Can you guess what happens next? Yep, you guessed it, the Coronavirus checked in and paused life as we know it. I know that the pandemic has been hard on every single one of us, but I remember feeling particular upset for Pepito. He worked his entre life to get to this point, and he finally made it. He arrived at his goal and before him sat a gorgeous restaurant with his well-known name proudly displayed on the signage. He did it, the American dream. Then out of no where, COVID-19 comes in and tries to wipe everybody out.

Not even COVID-19 could stop Pepito and his restaurant. Despite opening during the pandemic, Pepito & Company was able to become a local favorite in a very short amount of time. Everyone had to see what all the fuss was about, and when they sat at Pepito's & Co. for the very first time, they knew they would keep coming back again and again and again. And they did. And they will continue to do so.

I've spent a lot of time over the past year writing unfortunate articles about our local businesses who unfortunately were not able to weather the storm. I wanted to take a moment today to highlight the other end of that spectrum, and congratulate Pepito's and Company on their first year serving Shreveport-Bossier.

This is one of my favorite spots in Shreveport, and we're lucky to have it, and more important, we're lucky to have Pepito!

Here's to many more years!
