101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty talk about the latest developments in the back and forth between Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins and City Councilman John Nickelson. The councilman has filed an official public records request asking for information pertaining Perkins negotiating a new contract to oversee the rebuilding of the city's sewer system.

The Mayor responded to the Nickelson request saying that though the councilman is legally entitled to the information, his request is slowing the negotiations.

According to a story in the Shreveport Times, Perkins answered Nickelson's records request:

"You did a public records request to get information that was clearly still in the negotiations process. While the law does allow for you to have that information, I would have hoped that you would have had the common courtesy to directly reach out to get the requested documents." Perkins continued to say "through your prior actions and proposed legislation, you continuously work to dilute the authority of this office and dismantle the efforts of my administration."

And Nickelson's response, also from The Times:

"I would not be doing my job as a Council member if I did not pay close attention to a contract that concerns the management of a billion-dollar capital improvement project – the largest in the city’s history"
