While it may only be cold and wet now, conditions are expected to worsen in Shreveport-Bossier through out Thursday afternoon and into Friday morning. Parts of I-49 and I-220 have been closed by the Louisiana Department of Transportation. Several other roads in Caddo and Bossier Parish are also expected to be closed due to potentially icy conditions.

Due to closing roadways and the potential for dangerous conditions, some area schools have already announced that they will be closed Friday February 3rd, 2022.

Caddo Parish Schools were the first to shut down their school for Friday. The school system issued the following statement:

Due to the latest information from the National Weather Service, the wintry weather system for Caddo Parish predicts icy roads beginning overnight. As a result, all Caddo schools and sites will be closed Friday, February 4 and resume normal operations Monday, February 7.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation will begin road closures this evening resulting in all after-school activities tonight being canceled.

Scheduled activities and programs on Friday, February 4 after 4 p.m. may resume. We encourage anyone who must travel to be cautious and safe.

Following the announcement from Caddo Parish Schools, Louisiana State University in Shreveport also announced that they will close starting at 4:30 this afternoon and will remain closed through at least 4:30 Friday. Here's what the University had to say:

Due to the potential for icy road conditions and the scheduled road closures, the LSUS campus will be closed as of 4:30pm today and will remain closed through 4:30pm tomorrow, Feb. 4th. Face-to-face classes are cancelled. Students with questions about assignments should contact their professor. Regular scheduled online courses will continue as planned.

NSU-Shreveport has also announced that their facility will be closed on Friday as well.

At this time, these are the only schools that have announced their plans to close Friday. However, more announcements from area schools about their plans for tomorrow are expected to come soon. Download our app to keep up to date with the latest on school and road closures.
