Over the past 2 years, restaurants across the nation have struggled to stay open while dealing with Covid restrictions. Shreveport restaurants were not alone in dealing with  limited seating or reduced to providing food to-go only during the height of the pandemic.

Many were forced to close their doors forever. The government stepped in to help with PPP loans. In Caddo Parish nearly 14 thousand businesses got loans or grants.  In Bossier Parish, more than 4,000 businesses got loans. This includes all kinds of businesses. $581 million dollars worth of loans in Caddo Parish were forgiven. And in Bossier Parish, $179 million dollars worth of loans were forgiven. Many of the loans to restaurants were in this category.

Some of the larger chain restaurants are not included on this list, because they don’t have a headquarters in Shreveport. But you will find some of the fast food chains and many of the locally owned restaurants on this list.

In fact, Superior Bar and Grill, which started in Shreveport is number one on the list for the entire state.

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen was 2nd on the list getting $4,746,176 in PPP loans to help save 500 jobs.
