A Queen fan sold a Turkish copy of the ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ 7-inch single for $1010.88 during an auction earlier this week on eBay.

The seller, who goes by the handle queenfan.nl, has a store that features an extensive collection of Queen, Freddie Mercury, Brian May and Roger Taylor rarities. It appears that this piece of vinyl is just one of many in a collection of royal jewels destined to sell large.

‘Bohemian Rhapsody’– from the 1975 album ‘A Night At The Opera’ — hardly needs an introduction. In addition to being a bona fide rock classic, it also played a prominent role in an iconic scene in the movie ‘Wayne’s World,’ and landed at No. 7 on our top 100 classic rock songs countdown.

Still, this sale reminds us that Queen aficionados take collecting very seriously. And to the good fortune of memorabilia sellers, fans of the band tend to turn up in every corner of the world.

Backed with the B-side ‘Sweet Lady’ and bearing the Max label (049), this stereo single was listed in “very good – excellent” condition and sold housed in its original picture sleeve. It’s hard to fathom that a classic record such as this, with its mammoth sound and cultural impact, could still merit the description “ultra-rare” — but when you’re talking about Turkish Queen vinyl, you might consider the conversation to be very regal indeed.
