Report: Charges Against Wife of Red Hot Chili Peppers Drummer Dropped in Scott Baio Incident
In mid-December, we reported on the incident that involved the wife of Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, Nancy Mack, and famed actor Scott Baio. Mack allegedly attacked Baio over his support for Donald Trump, leading Baio to file a report with the police. According to TMZ, Mack will not be facing charges.
Both Baio and Mack were attending an event for their children in Thousand Oaks, Calif. where Mack was said to have taken aim at the actor for his political leanings, repeatedly screaming, "Grab her by the p-sy," a phrase Trump was caught on tape saying in 2005. Baio had asked Mack to refrain from using the aforementioned language around children. Mack then advanced on Baio, allegedly grabbing him under the arms and shaking him, but witnesses had stated she was attempting to demonstrate how Trump hugs women.
The Ventura County D.A.'s office has reportedly rejected the case on the grounds of "the assault just wasn't that bad" as stated by TMZ. The outlet also speculated that the current political climate and demographic makeup of the county offered little chance of a jury finding favor with Baio.
During Trump's presidential campaign, Baio was one of the most outspoken celebrities backing the Republican candidate. The Red Hot Chili Peppers remained on the opposite side, performing at benefits for Bernie Sanders.
