It seems like every day there is another announcement about a business moving to the Shreveport - Bossier City area, and I love it.  After a couple of years of stagnation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it looks like the wheels of progress are once again turning in our neck of the woods after another major business and employer has broken ground at the Port of Caddo-Bossier.

According to a report from the Shreveport Times, Sunny Point Aggregates will build their 3rd location in Bossier Parish.  The company produces "Frac" sand used in the oil and gas industry - a very in-demand product, especially in the petroleum-rich ArkLaTex.

The company promises to bring 40 jobs to our area as they dredge an oxbow lake just off of the Red River.  The plan is to remove approximately 45 million tons of sand, which will be used to create roughly 3 million tons of frac sand every year.

While those good-paying, full-time jobs are awesome, Sunny Point's plan actually benefits everyone in Shreveport - Bossier.  Reportedly, the more sand the company retrieves from the bottom of this lake, the less flooding we will have in the area!  It's a win-win!

Construction of the new facility is expected to be completed by August of this year with operations commencing in September.
