Sheriff, SPD, Council and Commission Holding ‘Crime Fighting’ Meeting [VIDEO]

Caddo Commissioner Mario Chavez talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the upcoming Long Range Planning Committee meeting, which will attempt to seek a solution to Caddo Parish Sheriff's deputies assisting the Shreveport Police Department.

Chavez tells KEEL listeners that the real purpose of the meeting, of which invitees include commission members, the Shreveport City Council and City Marshall, Louisiana State Police, the Caddo Parish Sheriff and Shreveport Police Department, is to find a workable solution to the the offer of Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator to assist the SPD in fighting the recent surge of violent crime in the city.

Chavez adds that the commission is ready to put up the money to pay for the added cost of sheriff's department patrols in the city.
