A project that has been rumored for months in the Shreveport area appears to be moving closer to confirmation. The rumored "Project Cosmeaux", an Amazon distribution plant located in Shreveport, has been in the planning stages for months. But since the start of 2021, those rumors have really heated up.

Now multiple sources have confirmed to KEEL that the Amazon project will be confirmed and announced this Friday in Shreveport. The announcement is expected to be a big one, with KTBS reporting that Governor John Bel Edwards will be in attendance.

Earlier this year, KEEL News has obtained documents related to permit applications filed with Shreveport for "Project Cosmeaux", a 3.5 million square foot building just off North Market Street in Shreveport, near the Caddo Correction Center. The permits involve at least 4 consulting firms, an architect, and real estate company listed as the owner. That real estate company listed is Duke Realty, which Forbes says is very well tied to Amazon. Forbes says:

"Amazon is Duke’s No. 1 tenant, and Duke knows its best customer well, having teamed up with it for more than a decade..."

Now this alone doesn't mean that Amazon are the ones behind the mysterious "Project Cosmeaux". Duke Realty has a couple other major clients, including Wayfair, Home Depot, and Target. All of which would also make large splashes in the Shreveport jobs market.

Amazon is no stranger to expanding in Louisiana. The company recently placed an Amazon Sorting Facility in Carencro in Lafayette Parish. That facility has started their hiring blitz this week. According to reports from KLFY-TV, the expected economic impact of the Carencro facility is $271 million in the first year. But that facility is only 1 million square feet, roughly one third of the potential Shreveport facility.

With Friday's announcement, Shreveport is expected to get some much needed economic boost.

Legendary Musicians Who Rocked The Hirsch In Shreveport

Here's a sample of the legendary musical acts who have played Shreveport's Memorial Coliseum over the last 60 years. The Hirsch was basically the homefield for bands like Van Halen and ZZ Top, who regularly put the Hirsch near the top of their tours. For that reason, we're actually not going to feature them on this list, because they were basically "house bands" for Shreveport...and that's NOT a bad thing.
