Shreveport Kicks off Campaign to Fight Crime
Shreveport leaders have put together a plan to address violent crime in many of the city's neighborhoods. Mayor Adrian Perkins has unveiled a campaign called #SaferShreveport.
The overall goal is to reduce violent crime and keep residents up to speed about the data and the changes. The city will be hosting programs to try to help improve the quality of life in our community.
The top priorities of the #SaferShreveport initiative are programs for young people, jobs, mental health resources and crime prevention efforts.
This campaign will involve the Office of the Mayor, Shreveport Police Department, Shreveport Fire Department, Community Development, Shreveport Public Assembly & Recreation and Property Standards.
Here's the schedule of what is being unveiled during this 8 week program:
July 6 New engine delivery - Shreveport Fire Department
July 12 Mental health programs and initiatives
July 19 Summer mentorship programs
July 26 Proactive enforcement Recruitment
August 2 Community Development
August 9 Environmental Court
August 16 Real Time Crime Center
More than 45 people have been murdered in Shreveport during the first 6 months of 2021.
