How Many People Are Arrested at Shreveport DWI Checkpoint?
Shreveport Police held a DWI checkpoint on Friday night on North Market Street just north of downtown Shreveport.
This checkpoint ran from 10pm to 3am on Saturday morning. Shreveport Police teamed up with other agencies to arrest five people for suspected DWI, one arrest for possession of marijuana, and one arrest for an outstanding warrant.
The officers also handed out more than 100 traffic tickets. The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana State Police assisted with this checkpoint.
Hundreds of cars were stopped during this operation on North Market just just of North Common street.
Shreveport Police Issued the Following Statement:
Shreveport Police knows that enforcing traffic laws is not a popular subject, however it is necessary to save lives. The most resent data shows an estimated 20,160 people died in motor vehicle crashes in the first half of 2021.
That’s the largest number of projected fatalities in that time since 2006. These tragedies leave countless loved ones behind. We cannot and should not accept these fatalities as simply a part of everyday life in America.
