Shreveport Homeless Camp Causing Concerns on Youree Drive
Posts have been making their way across social media about a homeless camp that has been set up on Youree Drive near Walmart.
Driving by the structure(s) many motorists have noticed the pile of tarps and wooden pallets, usually surrounded by trash and shopping carts. People are questioning why nothing has been done about what some consider to be an eyesore.
Shreveport Council-Person Grayson Boucher has addressed the Council about this and other homeless encampments around Shreveport, and has said publicly that he will be addressing them again on the subject.
Homelessness itself is nothing new in our area, but these self-made structures and camps seem to be a new sight for many locals.
So, what should be done? There are several resources for the homeless in the area including food and shelter (listed below). There are several people advocating for the city to help these people find a new place instead of having police kick the out of the space with nowhere to go.
The council will hopefully be making moves to help these people and clean up the area. Until the, no plan of action has been made public.
