Shreveport-Made Halloween Movies For People That Don’t Like Horror
There are over 400 movies listed on IMDB as being filmed in Shreveport. Now that doesn't mean all of those were filmed top-to-bottom in Shreveport, some of them may have only had a few shots done here. But some of them did have their whole productions in Shreveport, in fact, some are even based in Shreveport in their story.
When you look over that large list of filming productions Shreveport gets credit for, one genre jumps out at you more than anything else...Horror. The majority of the projects filmed in Shreveport appear to be in the Horror genre. That's absolutely true if you expand your Horror movie definition to include thriller movies.
Is there a difference between Horror and Thriller when it comes to movie genres? I believe so. See, a Horror movie is going out of its way to scare you, including gore, jump scares, quick cuts, and unsettling scenes. Where a Thriller movie works to get your heart rate up, and maybe some adrenaline going, but without gore, too many jump scares, or traditional Horror movie tropes. Sure, some movies can ride the line perfectly, and be both a Horror movie and a Thriller, like Silence of the Lambs or Seven, but some movies are definitely one or the other.
Halloween season is filled with Horror movie watching. It just fits. But there are a lot of people who want to embrace spooky movies without having to do Horror movies. They don't like the gore, or blood, or unsettling tropes. That's why Halloween themed movies like Hocus Pocus, Casper, and Halloweentown exist.
