Church Asks Shreveport to Show Up at Ballfield for a Good Cause
By now we have all heard of the tragic news involving the University of the Southwest's men's and women's golf teams. Nine people were killed in a fiery crash between a truck and a van carrying members of the golf team.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said the crash happened Tuesday evening in Andrews, Texas. DPS Sgt. Steven Blanco told CNN News that "A Dodge 2500 pickup was traveling southbound on FM 1788. A Ford Transit passenger van registered to the University of the Southwest in Hobbs, NM was traveling northbound on FM 1788. For unknown reasons, the Dodge pickup drove into the northbound lane and struck the Ford passenger van head-on. Both vehicles caught fire and burned."
The University of the Southwest's Baseball team is in town today, Thursday, March 17th, to play against LSUS at 3:00 p.m. A local church came up with a unique way to show some love to a school that is grieving this tragic loss.
Check Out What the Pastor of ClearView Church Said Below:
"Hey all, Pastor John here.
As many of you might have heard, six student-athletes and a coach from University of the Southwest were killed in a car accident Tuesday. In the wake of this terrible tragedy, we want to rally Shreveport-Bossier to show love and support for the USW community.
This Thursday, the USW baseball team will be in our area playing a double-header against LSUS at 3 p.m.
We want to pack the stands and shower these students with love and prayer as they grieve the loss of their friends and fellow students. Anyone who mentions “ClearView Church” will be admitted for free, and we will provide signs for everyone to hold up.
Thanks for your support and prayers.
Please help us spread the word by sharing this post and tagging your friends!"
