Smithland Volunteer Firefighter Needs Your Help
Many community members a rallying together to raise funds for a man who has made an impact in the Jefferson community. Dennis Hamm has been a Smithfield Volunteer Firefighter for over 15 years. Hamm also known as Porkchop in the Ark-La-Tex was in a motorcycle wreck on August 19th, 2017 in Harrison County. He was air lifted to LSU-S and place in ICU, for several days. According to Detective Tyler Owen from the Marshall Police Department "He is a 15 year member of the Smithland Volunteer Fire Department and is very much community involved. Several of his close friends, me included, have put this benefit together to assist him financially during this difficult time."
Starting at Noon many community members will head out to Diamond Dons on 1602 State HWY 49E in Jefferson for a fundraiser benefiting Porkchop's recovery fees. Live bands SnakeBone and Richard Stewart will be there along with drinks, pulled pork sandwiches and bounce house for the kids to enjoy. There will be an auction and hourly door prizes.
