One of the worst things I have ever felt was my vehicle getting broken into. The burglars stole the oddest things. I freaked out when they stole my entire make up bag. It was a pricey thing to leave in my car and ever since I am extremely careful about what I allow to be in my vehicle overnight.

A Community Liaison Officer Jason Cook took to his Facebook page to remind us all that there is an uptick in thefts all throughout our community. He also reminded us all of the importance of purchasing a home security system and actively monitoring it.

"One thing I'm noticing this morning as I look over calls is several burglaries. Please make sure you can access your security system and that your alerts go to your phone. You want your phone to alert you immediately if your cameras are activated by motion or if you have a sensor activated by sound. You will be able to determine immediately if police are needed or if its a false alarm. Sending an email or text you will look at several hours later is only going to alert you of the crime long after burglars are gone. If you can contact us during the burglary and give real-time information it will greatly improve our chances of an arrest. Sometimes you may be in a meeting or something and you can't check your phone so please be able to save video and screenshots when you do notice something is wrong."

C.L.O. Jason cook went on to remind us to make ourselves hard targets for theft. "Please continue to make yourself a hard target using lighting and keeping plants/shrubs cut back from around your home. Lock up your stuff it makes a difference."
