The Super Bowl in Tampa was a Super BUST!

Sports Media Watch is reporting that the Super Bowl matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs was the lowest-rated Super Bowl since 1969.

In the report, it is noted that Super Bowl 55 averaged a Nielsen-estimated 38.2 rating and 91.63 million viewers on CBS.

If you want to compare the ratings to modern matchups, the game between Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes was the least-watched since Super Bowl 40 on ABC in 2006.

Some have attributed the lower Nielsen numbers to the game not being close, while others suggest that the ratings could be down due to streaming. Whatever the case may be, I personally did not feel the hype for the Super Bowl this year.

Tampa Bay did defeat Kansas City, giving Bucs Q.B. Tom Brady his seventh Super Bowl victory.
