Texas Teen Shot and Killed During Shreveport Mardi Gras Parade
A Marshall, Texas teen shot and mortally wounded near the Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway Saturday, February 18, 2023, has been named by the Caddo Parish Coroner's office.
Kip Lewis, 17, died at 6:17 p.m. at Ochsner LSU Health hospital, where he had been taken following the 5:45 p.m. incident in the 2200 block.
This call came into dispatch around 6:15 p.m. from the 2200 block of Clyde Fant Parkway, which is located in front of the Magnolia School of Excellence Elementary School. When first responders arrived on the scene during the Krewe of Gemini Parade, they learned that a male victim was suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body. He has been transported to Ochsner Health Hospital to be treated for his injuries and later, died at the hospital
The shooting, the 11th homicide in Shreveport/Caddo Parish to date this year, remains under investigation by the Shreveport Police Department. Media seeking more information on the shooting should contact that agency.
An autopsy was ordered.
