Many years ago I was in search of a good deal on a lawnmower. My friend told me that I should go to an auction with him and I was sure to find something I liked.

I wasn't there long when the mower I wanted was up on the block. Having recently priced one just like it, I knew this brand new lawn tractor was worth a couple grand.

Not having ever attended an auction before, I was a little apprehensive, but when a gentleman across the way opened the bidding at $500, I jumped in and bid $600.

The auctioneer went through his fast talking diatribe and then looked back at me. So, I bid $700. Then he repeated the process. So, I made another bid. This time I thought I'd just squelch any other bidding, and I bid $1,500.

It was then that my friend leaned over and told me, "Hey, you had the thing at $600. You're bidding against yourself."

Is Buc-ee's Only Competition Buc-ee's?

And that appears to be exactly what the gas station/travel center/convenience store giant Buc-ee's is doing.

You might recall that just over two weeks ago, Buc-ee's announced that Texas would no longer be home of the largest Buc-ee's in the world.  That new honor would be going to Sevierville, Tennessee.

But Wait, There's More!

However, Sevierville was soon alerted that they wouldn't hold the title of "Home of the World's Largest Buc-ee's" long, as Buc-ee's announced they would be building an even larger location in Johnstown, Colorado.

And now, we've gotten word there's a new twist to the Buc-ee's drama!  In a story from cbs19.tv, Buc-ee's has apparently bid against itself again!

Looks Like The Title Is Headed Back To Texas!

Quoting from their article:

Later this year, though, Buc-ee’s will start building what it now says will be its largest store — and, therefore, the world’s largest convenience store — in its home state of Texas.

A news release from finance.yahoo.com states that the new store will be located next to an existing Buc-ee's in Luling, Texas about 45 miles southeast of Austin.

The new location in Luling will reportedly be about 75,000 square feet making it approximately 1,000 square feet larger than the Tennessee and Colorado stores and will employ more than 200 people.

Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin later this year.
