Geek'd Con, Shreveport's comic con, unfortunately had to miss the 2020 show due to the COVID pandemic restrictions around the state. But the show is back on for 2021! The show's return will be August 13th-15th at the Shreveport Convention Center.

The 2021 lineup looks like one of the biggest ever for the event. Looking at the lineup for this year, you'd have no idea that the entire show had to be scrapped last year.

This year Geek'd Con will be highlighted by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Alice Cooper!

In addition, the guest lineup includes Jason Mewes (Jay from Jay and Silent Bob fame), Peter Facinelli (Twilight movies), Christopher McDonald (Shooter McGavin from Happy Gilmore), Murr from Impractical Jokers, as well as guests from Harry Potter, Marvel's Avengers Endgame, Supernatural, the Food Network, the SyFy Channel, and more.

You can see the whole guest lineup here.

But we want to focus on one guest in particular here. That's actress Emily Swallow.

She's been in some highly successful shows over the last decade, including her role as Kim Fischer in The Mentalist, The Darkness (Amara) in Supernatural, and the iconic role of The Armorer in Star Wars' The Mandalorian.

Yeah, I said "iconic" to describe her Armorer role, which is exactly what we're talking about right now.

First of all, the Disney+ show The Mandalorian quickly healed many of the wounds that the Star Wars fanbase felt at the conclusion of their most recent movie trilogy. In the saga of Star Wars, The Mandalorian has jumped to the top third of rankings for many fans.

Within a show that has been so prominent in the franchise, to have a character that made such a splash is great, but important for what the character represents.

Before we get into deeper meanings, lets just look at how fans and critics have ranked The Armorer.

ScreenRant ranked her #5 on their list of Top 10 Mandalorians.

CBR ranked her #14 on their list of 15 Most Powerful Mandalorians.

GameRant ranked her #8 on their list of 10 Strongest Mandalorians According To Lore.

When discussing The Mandalorian show alone, CBR rated her as the Fiercest Warrior in the show. Ahead of Din Djarin and Cara Dune.

In many of these rankings, The Armorer is rated as the second highest female Mandalorian character, behind only Bo-Katan. While Bo-Katan has now made her live action debut in The Mandalorian, it was a full season after The Armorer debuted. Bo-Katan was originally shown in the animated series The Clone Wars.

That means not only is The Armorer one of the strongest Mandalorians, but she was the first female live action Mandalorian we were ever introduced to.

Her line "This is the way" became one of the biggest lines in the history of the Star Wars universe almost instantly.

In addition to her importance on screen, and in Star Wars lore, The Armorer has been a big hit on the merchandise front as well. She has her own Funko Pop figure, a high-end S.H. Figuarts 6-inch figure, a Hasbro Black Series figure, a Hasbro Black Series Deluxe figure, a Vintage Series Hasbro figure, and more.

We may not have had a ton of time with her during Season 1 of The Mandalorian, but the impact that Emily Swallow and her Armorer character have made on Star Wars and pop culture, is undeniable.

It's pretty incredible that we get to have one of the most important Star Wars characters of this modern-day generation coming to Shreveport this summer.
