The New Captain American Wants His Own Parade In New Orleans
Captain America is now from Louisiana. On-screen, and off screen, in Marvel's ongoing MCU. Sam Wilson, The Falcon, played by New Orleans native Anthony Mackie, has officially become Captain America in the Disney+ show The Falcon And The Winter Soldier. Because of this, the show rebranded at the end of the season to Captain American And The Winter Soldier.
But not just that, Marvel is now planning a Captain America 4 film, with Mackie as the star. There are also heavy rumors online that Mackie's Cap will show up in other Marvel content before that new Captain America movie shows up.
It's pretty incredible that one of the centerpiece members of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain Freakin' America, is from Louisiana inside their universe and in the real world. That's something that should be celebrated...and Cap agrees.
Anthony Mackie is from New Orleans, he grew up there, and has probably witnessed countless parades in the city. Which has him fired up about doing his own.
When Mackie joined Entertainment Weekly this week for an interview, he really leaned in on the idea. Check out the interview here:
I mean, who wouldn't want to see that? A Mardi Gras style parade for Captain America? Maybe we can take it even further, how about an Avengers parade? It could be headlined by Mackie as Cap, but then we could have Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Tom Holland as Spider-Man, all having their own floats and throws. We'd have to make sure that Teyonah Parris, who plays Monica Rambeau in the MCU, gets her own too. Her Marvel character is also a Louisiana native, and she just got powered up in Wandavision.
OK, I could keep going, but I will stop. Let's just focus on making Captain America's wish come true. Let's start planning for a New Orleans parade for Cap!
