Louisiana is a "melting pot" state. From culture to race, the state has a long history of bringing people together from many walks of life. Often this is something that is attached to the New Orleans area, but the whole state truly is a melting pot.

The Shreveport and Bossier City area are included in that. But not just on a historic level, there are plenty of people from diverse backgrounds making Shreveport-Bossier their home. Just look at some of these immigration numbers being reported.

According to information from the United States Census Bureau, there are large immigrant populations around the Shreveport-Bossier area.

This includes some countries that you would probably expect, like Mexico and China. But it also includes some countries that are shocking, at least to me. Like Japan, the United Kingdom, and Germany. Not that there aren't any immigrants from those countries in the Shreveport-Bossier areas, but the fact they rank as high as they do on this list is what's shocking.

The data collection website Stacker put together a list ranking out which countries send the most immigrants to Shreveport-Bossier. Not only that, but they looked at what percentage of the local population is made up from immigrants from each country, and how that reflects to the national numbers.

The national picture as a frame of reference for the local numbers is pretty interesting too. There are actually some countries with a larger immigrant population in Shreveport-Bossier than the percentage across the whole US.
