There has been a lot of talk about the extreme fluctuation forecasters suggest could be in store for Shreveport this weekend. You may have seen memes on social media, or graphics created by meteorologists, showing that the Shreveport area could go from 70 degree temperatures, to 15 degree windchills in a matter of hours.

Just looking at one forecast for Saturday, it says that the high will be 76, and the nighttime low will be 27...a near 50 degree swing. But take into account that the overnight forecast also includes a 21 mile-per-hour wind to go with that 28 degrees. Meaning the windchill could easily dip below 20. So yes, the same 24 hour period in Shreveport could see 76 degree air temps, and windchills in the teens.

But between those two phenomenal weather predictions is the catalyst for the change. A nasty cold front that could also produce some severe weather for the Shreveport and Bossier City areas.

As you can see in the Tweet from the National Weather Service in Shreveport, there will be the threat for severe weather when the front responsible for the change moves through the area. This includes the potential for damaging winds, large hail, and possibly even tornados.

According the the National Weather Service, this forecast has been in place for most of the week, so it should be a surprise to anyone. However it will be a shock when you feel the temperature change to start the new year in 2022.
