We May Have Just Gotten Our First Look at the New ‘Venom’ Movie Logo
Venom doesn’t hit theaters until later next year, but it looks like Sony has already started working on the marketing for the movie. While at Brazil’s CCXP (Comic Con Experience), Collider’s Steve Weintraub snapped a couple of photos of what could be Venom’s extremely toothy logo, complete with hashtag.
Nothing has been confirmed yet, and logos change all the time, but this one still looks pretty cool. Check it out below:
Collider’s post about this describes the banner with the logo as “somewhat hidden” within all of Sony’s other paraphernalia at their CCXP booth, so it could be that they’re just testing out responses to different looks before they start rolling out any official material. Venom started production about a month ago and is scheduled to hit theaters October of 2018.
Its cast is something of an enigma: We have Tom Hardy playing the host for the alien symbiote, and then a bunch of actors known primarily for their work in comedy like Jenny Slate and Veep’s Reid Scott, along with Michelle Williams and Riz Ahmed. The movie won’t have anything to do with Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man series, in which he was first introduced, or with Spider-Man: Homecoming and the rest of the MCU’s current timeline. This is pretty odd, since Venom’s origin (and look) is so closely tied to Spider-Man in the comics — his human host is Eddie Brock, a spiteful photographer who Venom attaches himself to after getting rejected by Spidey. So, we really have no idea what to expect from this. But if that’s the poster, it looks pretty neat. I can’t wait to see the hashtag emoji.
Venom hits theaters October 5, 2018.
