A part of history is gone! Fire has completely destroyed so many memories of the patrons of Dorcheat Seafood and Grill on the banks of Bayou Dorcheat in Dixie Inn, Louisiana.

In the early morning hours of Friday, January 6, fire consumed the location and from all observations of this landmark, it is total loss.

Dorcheat Seafood and Grill, formerly Bayou Inn, has been a seafood destination for residents of Northwest Louisiana and Southwest Arkansas for decades.

While this location is no stranger to tragedy which includes other fires and flooding from Bayou Dorcheat, those incidents were decades ago and I don't recall that the building was a total loss in those previous incidents.

Certainly reminds us of the loss of other great restaurants due to fire in our area like the fire that consumed the old Don's Steakhouse on East Kings Highway in Shreveport just two years ago, in January of 2020.

Thank you to Kyle and Cheree Cummings who shared with us the tragic video of the destruction of this institution.

No word yet from the current owners in regards to their future intentions as to whether or not the restaurant will be rebuilt.

Such a sad day and our prayers for all of those who will be personally affected by this devastation.
