Generally speaking, here in Louisiana, winter isn't that big of a concern. It might get cold. On rare occasions, we might see 'snow flurries' if you look REALLY hard. But, overall, winter isn't a thing that we have to concern ourselves with too much.

However, it appears that this year will be a bit different. According to the Farmer's Almanac, winter is going to be a bit harsher for pretty much the entire country, Louisiana included. The book/website says "In New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma east into Arkansas, and Louisiana, Mother Nature will mix intervals of tranquil weather with occasional shots of cold and wintry precipitation but overall may seem to be a bit 'temperamental.' "

While this may be kind of hard to believe, this might actually be accurate. Historically speaking we're due for some accumulating snow in Shreveport. According to howmuchwillitsnow.com, we historically get about an inch or so of snow every third year. The last time there was accumulating snow in our area was 2017-2018...which means if history holds true to form, we should see at least an inch of snow this year in the Shreveport-Bossier area.

With all that out the way, you and I both know that you can't predict the weather in Louisiana. We could still be wearing shorts and flip flops come February. But, history and the weather experts say it could get rough. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
