Here's information released by police:

At approximately 12:41 p.m. on July 16, 2019, Shreveport Police patrol officers were called to a major accident in the 3600 block of Southern Avenue after receiving reports that a black SUV had struck a building and a female pedestrian was pinned beneath the vehicle.  As officers arrived on the scene, it was learned an adult female was deceased from injuries sustained after being struck by the sport utility vehicle.  During preliminary investigation by officers on scene, information was gathered suggesting the deceased had been intentionally run over by a Ford Expedition after engaging in a physical altercation with another female was driving the SUV and subsequently who fled the scene on foot.

Investigators from the Shreveport Police Violent Crimes Unit were notified and responded to the scene.  Upon further investigation it was learned officers had detained a woman walking in the 900 block of Elmwood Street, who was believed to have been the driver of the SUV involved in the incident.  The woman, identified as 21 year old Shameka Ellis, of the 6900 block of Frazier Circle, was detained.  Ellis was also present with a toddler at the time of her detention.  Investigators transported Ellis to the Shreveport Police Department, where she was interviewed by detectives.  Upon subsequent interviews, authorities learned Ellis was the driver of the SUV which struck and killed the pedestrian.  It was further learned that Ellis had been accompanied by an unnamed male companion and the small child during the crime.  The child, who was not injured in the incident was released to family members after being evaluated by medical staff at Ochsner LSU Hospital.  Following subsequent interviews, Ellis was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.  No other persons face charges in the matter.

The Caddo Coroner's office has identified the victim as 21-year-old Louquandelyn Hargrove of Minden.
